Candle Wedding Centerpieces

Candle wedding centrepieces can really add a romantic touch to your wedding decorations. Here you can see one I recently created using different sizes of church candles decorated with colourful rose petals. It’s so easy to add rose petals that match your own personal wedding colour theme. If you can’t source fresh rose petals you can always use freeze dried petals or silk rose petals.

It doesn’t really matter what time of the year you are getting married candles can add real ambiance to a wedding reception. If you choose the ones I used in the photo above these will give you many more hours of burning time than you will actually need so there won’t be any worry about them not lasting.

Sometimes the simplest decorations can be the most effective. Here is a link to my website with more ideas for candle wedding centrepieces.

Sunflower Wedding Bouquets

I was delighted to receive this photo this morning in which you can see the sunflower wedding bouquet that I created for Emma (the bride).

As soon as she contacted me to discuss her wedding flowers she was certain she wanted sunflowers. In her wedding bouquet I combined sunflowers with white bouvardia, freesias and stems of wheat to create this beautiful natural handtied posy bouquet.

The sunflower bouquet was finished off with a collar of fatsia leaves, I think you’ll agree it looked wonderful at this summer wedding.

I continued with the sunflower wedding theme through to her wedding centrepieces.

Peony Wedding Bouquets

I've really enjoyed creating peony wedding bouquets this spring. The most popular peony at the moment is the white one called 'Duchess Nemo' that you can see in the photo here.

This peony works really well in handtied wedding bouquets. Check out a recent post I made with lots of photos featuring the latest peony wedding bouquets that I've been making for brides this summer.

Peony wedding flowers are available from April through to June. They have become really popular with brides having a vintage wedding theme.

I just treated myself to a massive bunch for my home, as I so love the fragrance they give off. It always amazes me how these tight little buds explode into massive blooms.

Pink Wedding Decorations

I recently created these pink wedding centerpieces for one of my brides.

We used large ostrich feathers to give extra height to the tall centrepieces.

The room at Walton Hall where the wedding reception was being held has really tall ceilings so these tall centerpieces are perfect.

These centerpieces are tall enough to allow for a conversation across the table without blocking the view.

If you are thinking of having tall wedding centerpieces just make sure that the design of them is not going to block the view accross the table. After all everyone likes to chat at a wedding.

All of the brides wedding flowers were pink and cream to coordinate with the bridesmaid’s dresses.

To add a unique touch to the wedding centerpieces I placed pink pearl beads on wire into the vases and submerged them under water.

Touches like this are great because it adds an extra interesting detail for the guest to look at as they sit around the table.

Seasonal Wedding Flowers

One of the most common questions I get asked by brides is about the seasonality of wedding flowers.

As a professional wedding florist I always recommend using seasonal wedding flowers as out of season flowers can be very expensive and poor quality.

In the photo here you can see the Autumn / fall wedding theme flowers we created for Amy's October wedding.

Many of winter brides worry that they wont have any pretty flowers available at their time of year. This simply isn’t the case, winter flowers can be equally as stunning. Some of the most popular winter flowers include orchids, tulips, amaryllis, ranunculus, ilex and mistletoe.

I worked on many winter weddings last year, we battled through some of the heaviest snowstorms I’ve ever seen, to deliver wedding flowers to brides. One winter wedding that I featured on my U.K website is the flowers we supplied to Lisa and Alex’s winter wedding at Wroxall Abbey, Warwickshire. The main wedding flower was the stunning white phalaenopsis orchids.

Whatever time of the year you are getting married in find out more about the types of wedding flowers available at your time of year.

Tropical Wedding Centerpiece

Are you having a having a wedding with a tropical or beach wedding theme? If you are you might just want to check out my website to find out how to create these stunning tropical centerpieces. They are really easy to make so they are perfect for a DIY wedding project.

These tall wedding centerpieces feature gloriosa flowers in cerise pink, I love these flowers, so much so that they featured in my wedding flowers. I even wore them in my hair.

Gloriosa flowers are such an interesting and unique shape, which means they work perfectly on their own. If you want to add more of a beach theme to this centerpiece you could add interesting shells in the bottom of the vases.

Gerbera Tall Centerpieces

Gerberas are great flowers for impact, they can add color, style and design to a room without being a budget buster! They work well in both tall and low centerpieces.

The great thing about gerberas is they come in a wide range of colors including orange, all shades of red, pink, white and yellow.

They are also a flower that is available all the year round so it makes them great for weddings at anytime of the year.

We often use 'gerbera mini' as the flower is slightly smaller that the full size gerbera.

You can see in the photo's here how I have used the cerise pink gerbera mini in tall wedding centerpieces. This was for an Asian wedding and the bride wore a cerise pink wedding dress. The
bright cerise pink added a splash of color to the marquee.

Hydrangea Chair Backs

In the photo here you can see how I have used a white hydrangea flower to make a wedding chair back.

Hydrangea wedding flowers are really popular right now with the trend for vintage wedding themes. I love using these large flower heads for chair backs as one flower looks beautiful simply tied to the side each of the chairs down the aisle.

For more ideas on hydrangea wedding flowers have a look at this recent video.
